Harlan Coben – The Stranger

Writer's picture: SusanSusan

Adam Price lives a seemingly perfect life; he has a great job, healthy kids and a loving wife. But one day he’s approached by a stranger who tells him a secret, a dark secret, about his beloved wife. Adam feels betrayed and his life is shattered. When he confronts Corrine, she refuses to discuss the matter and the next day she disappears, leaving only a short text message. Adam is angry but is convinced she will come back home soon. Everything starts to get complicated when the police knock on his door, asking for his wife. Everybody in that small town has a secret they wish to keep for themselves but the stranger comes to reveal them all.

This novel is very suspenseful from the first page. Anything that involves little secrets is.

The book has an unexpectedly rapid course and what you think is a family drama turns into a violent thriller.

It starts with one innocent lie and you keep thinking it is not a big deal. But then the plot culminates and the end of the book is shockingly horrific. I really enjoyed the book, it left me with my mouth wide open.
