Wuthering Height review
Emily Bronte

If you want to read how people can get crazy and mean grab this one. I had goose bumps and mouth wide open in horror when I was reading it.

The story line

The novel is set in England in 19th century. Mr. Earnshaw lives in Wuthering Heights with his son Hindley and younger daughter Catherine. One day he brings back home a gypsy orphan to live with them and names him Heathcliff. Hindley immediately despises Heathcliff because he believes that Heathcliff will steal the love and attention of his father. Heathcliff is terribly mistreated by everybody and hardly knows what love is. However, he finds a friend in Catherine and soon they become inseparable.

As time goes by Heathcliff grows into a strong man. Due to the mistreatment and lack of love he becomes very spiteful, angry and bitter. On the other hand, Catherine is treated like a princess, all her whims are fulfilled and she becomes very selfish and arrogant. You can hardly find anybody as toxic as them, who can love, hate and punish everybody in the blink of an eye. Soon very tragic events start to happen because some people can hold grudges for decades…

If you ever feel you’re a bad partner read this book. Those two people are capable of so much hate that is beyond explanation and understanding yet they are loved. I learnt two things while reading this book.

  • Some people just live to hate. Seemingly, it can be somebody’s call or fuel that gets them through the day.

  • Even though they made some terrible and unforgivable choices at the end of the day they were still loved. There’s hope for everybody.
