Crime and Punishment
Fyodor Dostoevsky

If you ever feel like committing a crime and getting away with it read this book to see what you’re getting into.

Story line

A student Nikola Raskolnikov struggles to get by. He drops out of university because he cannot afford to pay for it. He’s far behind in the rent. He has nothing to eat. An old and willful pawn breaker who has a lot of money lives nearby. Nobody likes her, not even her sister. He’s playing with the idea of murdering her. The world would be a better place if she was gone, such a spiteful old hag Nikola thinks and if he took her money he could support his mother and sister. He also thinks he’s better than others and much smarter. Most of the murderers get caught because they lose their cool overlook little things. He believes he’ll commit a prefect crime and has a plan. But not everything goes according to the plan and soon he finds himself in a lot of mess and torment. Is he smart enough to get away with it?

I am seriously convinced that Dostoevsky wrote from his own experience and he described his own torment. He accurately depicted the loss of Raskolnikov’s mind and no one could write it so convincingly if he didn't experience it. Classic books don’t have to be boring, they can also be creepy.
