Coraline is a little girl who has recently moved with her parents to a new house. Her parents are always busy typing at their desks oblivious to the surrounding as well as to their daughter. The exuberant little girl is bored and feels invisible. To kill time she finds joy in exploring the outdoors. Sadly, one day it pours with rain and she is trapped inside. Her parents are lost in their work again driving Coraline away. She starts searching the rooms, exploring every corner when she finds a door that leads to a different world where her other mummy awaits her…
Even though this is a book for children many adults will find wisdom and entertainment in it too. It shows that behind courageous and brave deeds hide a lot of fears and doubts but in the end it’s about doing the right thing and teaching kids that all that glitters is not gold.
Overall, it was a pleasant story to read in the dead of night.
