The story line

There’s been a fragile truce between good and evil for centuries. But that’s about to change. The world of angels and demons will face its final battle. Judgement Day is coming. The arrival of the Antichrist, who will unleash hell on Earth and bring doom, has begun. Demon Crowley is assigned the task of bringing the Antichrist into the hospital where the baby would be swapped and placed into a very prominent family. Crowley, who has spent way too many centuries among people, is not very keen on the idea of the world ending. Nevertheless, he puts the spawn of Satan into the hands of a slightly scatter-brained nurse and leaves. The series of very unfortunate events follow. Crowley and his counterpart, angel Aziraphale, discover 11 years later that they have been keeping an eye on the wrong kid. The Antichrist has been misplaced and the old hospital had burnt down with all the paperwork. Both Crowley and Aziraphale have believed if the Antichrist received a proper upbringing with a lot of love it might reverse Armageddon. They are running out of time and if they want to save the world they have come to like they need to hurry up.

I really like the way the characters are depicted and the dry, ironic and sometimes dark humour. It is extremely funny and entertaining. The characters grow on you very easily. The novel is original and highly addictive.
