This book has more than 700 hundred pages. It’s a tome really. And I was on cloud 9 when this book was released. And he wrote it with his son. That sounded promising. Everybody who knows me knows that I’m a big fan of King. I have read most of his books. So let’s do a little review.
The story line
All women one by one when they fall asleep don’t wake up. Their bodies get covered in a white cocoon. As the disease spreads men start to panic. It’s a race against time and so far there’s no cure. It might be the end of all mankind because without women there won’t be any kids, no future generations. Are women gone completely or have they gone to a better place and more importantly will they come back? Amid the disaster a rumour starts to spread that there’s a woman who can fall asleep and wake up again. And there’s a bunch of angry and scared men who want to take the law into their own hands…
King builds up tension throughout the whole book. You just read on and when you get to the end you’re in shallow water. The suspense instead of escalating just drops and you keep wondering this can’t be it. I was very shocked when I finished the book. This wasn't something I was expecting. To me it was like he got bored and needed to finish it and just cut it off. The story is original and has a great potential he greatly fails to reach. The story just slides over the surface. The characters could have been depicted better and more thoroughly. It could have been a masterpiece.
Is it just me who felt disappointed? Or is King losing his sharpness? Let me know in the comments below
