Lord of the flies is a short novel about a group of boys who are stranded on a desert island. Soon they discover that no grown up has survived the plane crash and they are on their own. After the first shock wears off they decide to make a fire and keep it burning so any passing ships can see it and come to rescue them. In the meantime they just want to have fun. With no adult around it is immensely difficult to keep order and before long the first frictions start to arise as to who would be the better leader and how to deal with the beast that is said to haunt the island.
The novel is very gripping and as the story unfolded, various possibilities regarding the monster started to come alive in my head. The book leaves room for your imagination to show its true potential and make the beast more horrid than it actually is. The only thing I didn't like was that sometimes I was confused as to what was actually happening in the story because the boys’ fears were projected as reality, the way they saw it, but that wasn't necessarily the objective truth.
